Eric Dier hit with FA charge after jumping into crowd to confront fan

Eric Dier has been charged with misconduct for entering the crowd to remonstrate with one of the supporters after Tottenham were beaten on penalties by Norwich in the FA Cup.

Dier claimed he left the pitch and entered the stands in an attempt to protect his brother who he noticed was in an argument with a Spurs fans.

An FA Spokesperson said: ‘Eric Dier has been charged with misconduct for a breach of FA Rule E3. It is alleged that the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder’s actions at the conclusion of the Emirates FA Cup fixture against Norwich City FC on Wednesday 4 March 2020 were improper and/or threatening.’

Dier has until Friday 8 May 2020 to provide a response.
